Default Volvo's?

Welp, here goes, I am new to Volvo's. I have been building XJ/ZJ Cherokees/Grand Cherokees for the rocks for more than a few years now. Haven't had a chance to build any cars yet. I can turn wrenches, and want to build a cool wagon. Always wanted one. So I bought a 1996 850 Turbo Wagon, that cool pearl white color. Definitley want to lower it a bit, 18's, and some go fast parts. I don't like show no go. I appreciate a subtle build that can haul. Please help me qith some ??'s soon. Check out the latest rig I have built if you care. If not, cool too. Point is, I can wrench. I will have a ton of noob questions. Thanks

Welcome

1. What is your budget?

2. What is your Horsepower goal?

*Nothing and I mean nothing in the Volvo aftermarkert world is cheap. So I am forewarning you that if you think it is going to be or hope it will be cheap to mod your 850 then you bought the wrong car. However you can mod your Volvo but it will cost you some good money to do so.

*Before you mod complete STAGE ZERO. Found here in this thread, https://volvoforums.com/m_38606/tm.htm

Power Mods

Your basic upgraded power mods would be a downpipe, catback and an ECU upgrade. To be exact a 3" mandrel bent downpipe to a 2.5" mandrel bent catback with a free flowing straight through design muffler such as a BORLA or Magnaflow, ETC... You want free flowing because you are turbocharged backpressure is an enemy to us. However you may ask why not a full 3" catback system, well unless you upgrade your turbo to something bigger there is really no need to do a full 3" system.

Suspension Mods

Your typical suspension mods for Volvo's are... Lowering springs, strut brace, shocks/struts, IPD Sways.

Key word: GT35R w/ .82 hotside. Just make everything else work to fit that turbo in, it is the best dd, big turbo on the market (over 550awhp on pump with over 300awhp before 4,000 rpm).

Good luck with the build.

Thanks, I am going to build mild, relatively stock exterior, but suspension for sure, as well as an ECU, exhaust, and some minor turbo work. Thanks for the welcome. Cool shtuff hopefully from these forums.
