bov question

My parents have a 2002 2.4 turbo auto. i have read at another site that all stock turbo cars have a bov but they dont make the pssst sound is this true. and i kno in a manual the bov goes off when u shift b/c u let off the gas. but a car that is auto would not go off when u shift b/c u r just flooring the car, but it would go off when u let off the gas right.

also does anyone kno of a company that makes a good bov.

uuummm yea bovs are easy to find and it might make a little noise when it changes gears at a high rpm.

I know Volvo's do not have a BOV stock. They have what is called a CBV. If you have a cone filter attached to your intake, you will hear it.

Now as far as putting a BOV on a Automatic. I have one, it will only go off when you left off the gas. I love it.

I am running a Turbo XS Type H-RFL

Another really good one is the HKS SSQV, which is very very nice.

an fyi, if switching from a cbv, to bov, some people experience stalling. this is due to the bov venting to the atmoshere and not looping it back in, causing the maf to get "out of whack".

Thusly this is why you can opt to block the CBV. By putting a plate over it. I think one of the Volvospeed members on VS was and or still does make them.

I have an automatic car with a BOV, and my CBV is still running. No problems.

Yes do it. It is a nice under the hood decoration to add, it is useful to let off excess boost pressure, and it makes a nice sound.

I would either go for the HKS SSQV or the Turbo XS type H-RFL.

Do you knoe how to weld aluminum or steel? If you use the aluminum adapter you will have to weld that to aluminum like your Upper IC pipe, well at least my Upper IC pipe was aluminum.

I had someone do it for me, $60

What BOV you mean? Add any universial BOV. HKS SSQV, Turbo XS Type H-RFL, Greddy.

Blocking the CBV has nothing to do with the stalling he is talking about. When going open loop on these cars, you don't experience the problems that VW, audis, and subbys experience when going into limp mode. Open loop will run rich when venting occurs other than that no ill effects. If you're stalling from a BOV install, you're leaking at idle and need to adjust the BOV. You can run both a BOV and CBV at the same time, the bov just won't be very loud.
