2010 S80/T6/AWD- time for a tune; local Volvo dealer quoted @2,200. Included belts, etc WOW. Do I need to go to Volvo for a proper tune- up? Car has 151365 miles, no idea last time tune up ( although no engine probs/gas mileage), nor belts,etc.changed.So should be done. Thx's for help.
The 150k Service is a combination of all services recommended on your car. Spark plugs are every 75k, All the other service points, filters, fluids, are changed then also. The serpentine belt is scheduled every 150k. If you just purchased the car - now you know why it was for sale.
That serpentine belt drives the ac, water pump, and power steering. The ac compressor has to be removed to replace it. Whenever I've done that job - you end up finding a whole bunch of worn/siezed/marginal parts to replace. Volvo recommends replacing all of them - due to the labor time to get to them. Idler pulleys, one way clutch, water pump - Attached in a section from the service program showing the belt replacement at 150k. You could just do the 75k portion of the service and wait something belt driven to fail (water pump, etc.) Sorry.
Thank you. Understand less cost for 75k, than full 150k costs/ new everything. With my luck, it will be in the middle of no where and the belt/hose will go. If can pull together @ $2,200- for Volvo dealer-ix- then believe that is the way too go. Would you, or anyone recommend letting a non dealer do this work?

I had a Volvo specialty shop for 38 years and had worked on many of those engines until I sold in 2018. So certainly if you can find someone you are comfortable with that knows what they are doing you might be able to save a little bit.

Have had other issues greater than the car to deal with, hence the delay in reply. I do thank you for your offer. I live in Syracuse, N.Y., Alan Byer is only Volvo dealer in town, where else to go,no idea. Thus any of your ideas, would be MOST appreciated. My regards
