Volvo 850 starting issue?

Hello everyone, I have a 95 volvo 850, and I thought the timing belt snapped the way the car started, but apparently the I was wrong. Went to start the car and it sound like it backfired threw the throttle body and i left it alone. I checked the timing belt and lined up the marks according to the manual, and it is good and the be shows no sign of slipping or jumping. I have only changed the plugs and now it sounds like it wants to start. Wonder if anyone has any suggestions on ignition or fuel problems related to these cars.
Thanks Russ

You might want to post this in the 850 section, you might get more responses. I had an issue with my 850 not starting, it cranked, was getting fuel but no spark. I found there are three reasons for no spark. 1. bad crankshaft position sensor 2. bad camshaft position sensor or 3. the main relay is bad. The all tell the coil to fire if they are working correctly. From doing some searches here, I found the main reason is the crankshaft position sensor going bad. I bought a new one, put it in the car and it started right up. I hope this helps a little, good luck.
