Default Anyone else also own a Corvette?

Anyone here also own a vette?

IVe still got mine as a DD. 1985 Red Z51.
135K miles, and still scares me sometimes.
Was my first car back in 2003.

I know alot of people dont like em because they are not "practical" cars for everyday use. But I got to say, after 3 years...you get creative with your 4 cubic feet of storage space....lol

Wish I could afford a nice 1995 ZR1...or a 2004 ZO6....but thats not likely to happen in the next few years....heh

Cant wait till I get the 740 Turbo going and see how fast it is against the N/A vette!

I love Corevettes. What I like best about them is when the driver looks over and sees a Volvo right next to him no matter how hard is pushing it. I don't mess with the newer ones though. Back in the mid-90's I was next to one at a red light and he took off kind of fast, not burning rubber fast. I was in my 94 850 Turbo and was able to catch up with him and stay along side of him. He really looked over with a shocked look on his face. Wasn't nearly as funny though as when I blew the doors off a Mercedes 450SL with an 85 760 Turbo Diesel. Left him in a cloud of black smoke. We were doing about 70 when we started racing. That's when the diesel was running at it's best.

Mine has a custom chip, No mufflers, no cats, modified intake setup, K&N filter, modified filter box.

Im pushing 280hp, at around 370ft/lbs of Torque, all in a car that weighs 3100 lbs, and pulls 0.98 on the skidpad.

It can get hairy real quick if Im not mindful of the road conditions, and throttle pedal.

The new ones are nice...but I like the popup lights on the C4 models.

When I was a teenager a friend of mine's older brother had a 59 Vette white with blue insets. The last I heard he still has it. I would love to have something from the early to mid-60's.

My dad has a Canary Yellow 77 Vette. My niece got to drive it for three years and my daughters turn is next so she'll get to drive it for three years and then it will be my sons turn. So for 6 years I will sort of have a Vette. After that we give what is left of it back to my dad.

I had a ton of them starting with a 1957 (used) and ending with 1982. Those were the years when a Vette was revered and not that many of them were on the road! I had an awsome 1981 that was a 160 + MPH machine. I ran a 308 axle and could pull better than 70 MPH in first! I appreciate that new Vettes can match those numbers but you have to understand that NOTHING and I mean NOTHING could touch that car in those days. All that with a mouse motor that was built to the hilt. It didn't take long after the 80's to find that the European autos were better road cars and could beat the Vettes on the track. I used to see the original mini Coopers take on Vettes and beat them in the twisties at a road course near Detroit, Michigan. I drove a BMW with a built 4 cylinder that could take any Vette from a standing start to top end. Those were the mid 80's Vettes. But like Jim mentions.................Volvo's have some pretty good 0 to 60 times and those of you who have built your Volvo probably have some good stories!
