Ethanol Troubles
 

I have a 1998 dirt bike that I only ride once a week, if even that. It's a 4-stroke TW200 Yamaha. It's been running rough lately especially after it warms up so I replaced the spark plug (with the correct gap), checked the air filter and ran the old gasoline out and filled it with fresh gas. It still runs rough. My next step is to consider ethanol being the possible problem.
1) Would using 93 octane gas help?
2) Does higher octane gas have less ethanol in it?
3) Are there any downsides (besides cost) in using 93 octane?
4) Is the U.S. (I live in Pennsylvania) still planning on going to 15% required ethanol?
5) Should I be using an additive to combat ethanol? If so, which one?

How old was the gas you drained out and why are assuming your troubles are being caused by ethanol in the gas? :confused:

better to locate the admin of the pannel , i am sure u would be resolved of with the issue here.... good luck

Also checked the air filter and ran the old gasoline out and filled it with fresh gas.Though it still runs rough.Trying your next step is to consider ethanol being the possible problem.
A)Test gas for alcohol presence and to assure it is below the legal limit of 10%.
B)Replace the gas in your fuel tank at least every 2-3 weeks.
C)Know the specific fuel laws for your state.
D)Check your owner's manual for fuel type recommended.
E)Ethanol-blend fuels will lower MPG in most engines; Fuel efficiency can decrease by 2-40%
