Thumbs down Fcp parts "discount" code

Forgive the all caps, figured it would be a way to get attention in this low traffic sub-forum.
In any event, I'm assuming I'm not the only one who sees the banner at the top of the page from FCP, which advertises 10 percent off an order.
I ordered a significant ammount, i.e. spent significant $$$ with them a mere 2 weeks ago, and was told the code was not valid.
The guy I spoke to said they're trying to get away from using codes, and just offer the best prices." We all know what that means...

Wondering if anyone else has had similar experience, or better yet, has anyone taken advantage of the code : VOLVOFORUMS10?

Back to my order, I will be posting a thread on the inconvinience that a botched order can cause. Let's just say 2 weeks of my time have been wasted, going on three.

Buyer Beware.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Cheers

From what I understand, FCP requested that the banner be removed. The site owners have not gotten around to removing it. I will contact someone with some pull.

I did notice that I could not use the code. However, FCP has started giving free shipping on all orders and they do have decent prices.

They did Dramatically drop their prices too... If you are ever a couple bucks short on your order, and you are a regular order-er you can always call up and they will help you out...

They are good guys over at FCP, always there to help, always there to listen..

Also keep an eye on FCPEuro a little birdie over told me of some big things coming!!

That's what upset me; I am a regular customer, I didn't order online, I actally called and talked to a human, and the guy just blew me off. It would have no skin off his neck to offer me a discount of some sort, or at least explain the situation.
I have no personal gripe with the sales people there; they're very friendly. I think that may be the problem. They're great guys who don't have a very good sense of customer service, based on my ONGOING encounter.
I'm not going to get into it yet, as I stated earlier, because I don't think it's necessary now, but in any event, I just wanted to reply to the posts that are up, thanks rspi, I appreciate it.

P.S. Their prices are decent when compared to the stealership, but the "free shipping" is called UPS "Surepost" and in my opinion is less than efficient. They ship UPS and then pawn it off on the US Postal Service for actual delivery. I'm all the way across the country, and I don't see the benefit in transfering possesion of the goods to the post office. I don't even see how it makes business sense.
Lastly, many parts vendors offer free shipping, with no minimum order. I order parts from a major company all the time, and I EVERYONE gets FREE 3 DAY FED EX EXPRESS. I'm not as impressed as some others may be.

Hmm...I smell bias. Can you please tell me who is such a good guy to provide "help?" I'm glad they're good listeners; they'll be getting an earfull from me soon...I've never had any problems with them, and I'm never "a couple bucks short...." They always have my money before the stuff goes out their door. I would prefer people with a sound knowledge base and good sense of business urgency.
This last incident cost me going on 3 weeks in "lost productivity." Had I not taken it upon myself to stir the pot, it would have been a month...

Mike has been very helpful, but I am not impressed with the rest of the customer service staff. Mike stepped in and quickly corrected someone elses mistake.

Thanks for the reply.

I did just order a radiator this week so I spent over $200 and called because at the time I didnt know if it was my mistake or what cause I wasnt able to enter the code.

guy gave me my 10% and told me they werent doing codes. he was nice about it.

it has been a week now so the banner shouldnt still be here , but thats my opinion.

I already have been told its the webmaster's fault not fc

Not Biased but I stand by the companies that stand by me.. In the last 12 years I have spent over $10,000 with them on multiple cars, Volvo, Lexus, Honda, Mercedes... every thing from Pistons to a bag of nuts.

I have not only spoke with Mike, but Alex, Maxx, Scott, Jason, Nick just to name a few.. Ive called with questions about torque specs, removal issues, even just to ask an opnion on how something would look and if they have ever seen it before...

If you have had a problem you should have asked for a manager right away and you wouldnt have waited 3 weeks..

Every time I call up I order from Nick, he has handled every order for me since he started working there. And yes, my last order was $246 after my VS discount but I was only able to spend $250 and I wanted priority mail rather than the free shipping.. Nick asked Max and they waived the $20 Shipping and shipped it priority mail.

I stand behind them the same way I stand behind ARD, Mid-west ABS, RSI, autolumination, and all the other companies that have done right by me and everyone I know.

But ive never had a problem with FCP, everyone I know who had a problem had it resolved by following the proper steps. But remember no business can please EVERYONE, there will always be someone who is unhappy and feels that they were treated unfairly..

My only advice to you would be if your not happy with their service dont shop there, there are plenty of companies that you can get the same parts from..

Also keep in mind if you dont like their free shipping option you can "Pay" for a different service.
Just my 2 cents..

But back on topic.... as stated above ALL Discount codes are NO more..

Thanks Matty for stating the obvious. I'm glad you've gotten some perks from them as a result of prodding them into doing what's right. I feel that if a company is worth it's salt, they would have given you your little perks without you having to suggest they do so.

The reason I made this particular purchase is that, as I stated, I HAVE NOT had any "significant" issues with them in the past. I could mention three minor errors, that were minor, but senseless nonetheless.
Although I haven't spent nearly as much money as you have with them, they should recognize I am a repeat customer as soon as they look in the computer, instead of just blow me off. I was buying from them when they were groton. And made buys when they had different prices on different websites.
Additionally, I'm not looking for much technical advice at this time, just good, solid, customer service. I understand people make mistakes, but my situation was a cascade of mistakes.
As a side note- IPD has quite a nice selection for Volvo as well. And doing some price comparisons, their lower prices on the two items I looked at today, plus the UPS ground, was about the same price I paid FCP for this fiasco.

Anyone else who reads this, take a look at the two respective companies youtube channels. IPD and then FCP, easily found using the search function.

My favorite video is the FCP kid dressed up in a superhero costume promoting gates "racing" belts. IPD, on the other hand, has videos that are more useful to me personally; like, gee... let me think...how to adjust my wastegate.

Anyone who has any doubts, watch the videos. Then let me know who'd you'd rather get "technical advice" from, or for that matter, even do business with...

As for you seeming to lay the blame on me, the consumer, for my (replacement part)order taking 3 weeks to arrive, it is presumtuous for you to do so, since I haven't disclosed the sordid details. I don't feel like degrading people personally in a public forum. If you knew the circumstances, I think you might very well be surprised.
Since I hadn't already thought of it, since you sarcastically suggested it, they've certainly lost my family's business, and I suppose we can close the book on this one.

I'm glad you, and the radiator guy got good service though. Keep shopping with them! Give 'em enough rope and they'll...you know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply. I hope you're having a nice weekend.

I normally don't chime in on a thread because I feel these forums should be a platform where all of you can talk freely about your experience with different parts suppliers and recommend the company of your choosing without being interrupted by the supplier itself. But I wanted to clarify the initial statement in regards to our pricing.
We currently got rid of all our coupon codes and instead lowered all of our prices across the board so that they would already reflect the price that was originally needed with a code. We wanted to make sure when people search for a part that FCP prices are already lower than our competitors so we decided to just lower our prices all together and get rid of codes. With that said we also realize that all of our supporters on forums such as volvoforums and others are a huge reason why we have grown so much within the Volvo community. Therefore if any of you ever feel like our price on an item is too high or you can get cheaper elsewhere, by all means please contact me directly and I will do my best to match and beat whenever possible. I do apologize for the banner still being up there, I personally have sent emails to support to contact me to remove as well as some of our other reps. With that said, because they haven't taken it down it is still a reflection of FCP so I will be happy to honor that code as long as it is posted. It is our responsibility to have it removed and we can't assume you guys should know it should have been taken down, so for that I apologize for any confusion. We appreciate all of our customers especially the Volvo community so I can assure you our main intention is to keep your cars on the road with quality affordable parts you require as well as exceptional service. I personally invite any one of you to come visit our facility for a tour and I'd think you'd see that our company culture and values will always be that our customers come first. My email address is max@fcpgroton.com so feel free to contact me directly if you ever have any questions or concerns, and thank you once again for your continuous support of FCP.
