RE: How Fast Have You Gone?
in the car i own now 102 [sm=gears.gif] just like it says it will in the book.
not very fast you say - well in a '64 Amazon it feels like 140.
Not bad for an old car but i won't be doing it again for a while,
fastest in a car ever 125 in a renault 20ts
On a bike - 160 (indicated) slipstreaming a ferrari on my bandit 1200s - yes on open roads - yes other traffic around - yes it was stupid and yes i DID enjoy it

RE: How Fast Have You Gone?
120s... something, in a 740 Turbo Intercooler 5-speed (we call this: "Cinco pa'lante") when I was 10 years old. That got me hooked up on Volvo.
89 in ( N ).. neuter, not in Drive in a 244GLE going down the hills in Cayey (a pueblo in PR). Now that is falling like a rock!
90s.... something in my 940... had a toll booth in the front. Too many cops here!

RE: How Fast Have You Gone?
I had my 91 Volvo 240 up to 120 mph once....going down hill and with the wind at my back....once it leveled off i was at an even 111. My dad used to work at a Volvo dealer back in the day and i had his 850 turbo demo (not sure what year) up to 140 mph. Then i had my buddies 98 Mustang GT up to 145 mph. But the by far the scarriest "speed" story i have is when i hit 46 mph on my mountain bike....

RE: How Fast Have You Gone?
Best I've done is 115mph in a new 5-speed Caviler Z24 (late-80's time frame). Other than that, it's 85/90 in my '93 850. However, that wasn't on purpose, I was in a pack of cars near Albany, NY on the Thruway and didn't realize I was at that speed: I thought I was somewhere around 75. Damn I love Volvos!

RE: How Fast Have You Gone?
My first Volvo I had a 1997 850 GLT.....I had it up above 140 then backed down, it still had about an inch of pedal to press down on(farm road in middle of no where in Texas).
As to my current 2002 S80 T-6, I've had it up to 95 so far..once I get my new tires and alignment done I will be taking her out for a "test drive".

RE: How Fast Have You Gone?
Flying off the overpass on a 4 wheeler like Evil Knievil would have been something to see.
I know it wouldn't have been funny for you when it happened, and I don't know if your post was supposed to be humorous, but I couldn't stop laughing as I read your description and pictured it all happening inmy imagination.
Made my day.
When do you planto do something like this again.

RE: How Fast Have You Gone?
Some time ago, shortly after I got my T5,I took it out onto a lonely country road here in the Australian bush to get some idea ofits characteristics and capabilities.
Let me say this.
I was amazed how quickly the speedo sweptfrom 100 to120 then140 through 160 past180, and as itswept up to200 kmph, I decided that was quite fast enough for me.
I had previously owned a Cressida that struggledafterabout 180 kph gettingto 200+ kmh.
The Volvo was a completely different kettle of fish. The continual strong acceleration up to 200 kmph (and most likelybeyond) was very similar in many respects to a BMW my son used to own.
