Seasonal Rant Repairs

Figure I'd rant about the typical repair(s) that show their face when the weather is not as nice or is changing.

850 Heater Core! Probably the dumbest over engineered POS design. It spewed on me driving home from work pretty muc dumping many quarts of coolant into the cabin. Ah Volvo, you're so genius on that one! And the event gets better!
I would get a whiff of the sweet smell of frustration every so often so I started the pre-ordering process for all the heater core stuff I needed because I wanted to get a leap on the matter.
So being financial smart and using coupon codes, not having to worry about express shipping and even ordering double qty of the orings/kits I thought I was golden like a shower! Thought to myself, "I got this!"
Fast forward to this past week when it just couldnt hold its own anymore.

No problem I thought. Limp it home, take it apart, slap the new core, couplers, orings/spacers, hoses, even firewall adapter and and and NEW aluminum lines! Awesome I thought to myself. All OEM stuff aside from the two hoses.

I get it 80% together (left the console apart and kick panel off) filler'up, grab the light go looking for leaks.....
Leaking like a siv at the heater core orig junction. WTF!
Try the next set of orings... Still leaking, but dripping faster versus pouring out like before.

Take the core out, look at it.. the plastic has flashing in it cutting the orings. Thanks volvo!

So I said eff that and for temp purposes I removed all the interior heater core components and put in a different heater core (think I had a 2000 SRT 4 core laying around) fitting in OTC heater hoses.

Going to modifiy the oem one and eliminate the QDC/oring malarkey.

/Rant

Feel free to add your awesomeness if you can!
