This was the 2002 S60 in my signature 296K and its sacrificed its life to save my sons. He fell asleep at the wheel and hit a guardrail head on at 55 mph, walked away with some with a few scrapes, burns and bruises.

Me too! As a father I never want to see this again, but its why I chose volvos for the safety and quality they offer. I hope the is the first and last one we ever get to test out the safety features of.

The blue one is the back ground is the one your helping me with at the moment, Its my sons girlfriends new car she was car shopping at the time of his crash and after the crash , she didn't want to look at anything else but an S60. I still have not got my 240 wagon finished (its been 3 years) but have made tons of progress. I been busy with everyone else's car that I have had very little time for mine. I will update my signature though because my volvo family is growing.

Here is another one we lost when a tree come down in a storm, It saved my sons S60 though and it saved him, so I guess it all worked out in the end.

I've worked a 3rd shift job for 20 years and there have been many a morning when I took a nap in the car.... either before I left the lot or at some point on the drive home.

About a month ago however I "woke up" as I was passing my exit on the freeway. Thinking back to the last stretch of road I could remember was about a mile back... and it's not a straight shot of road. I don't know how I got where I did when I woke up.

Good to know your soon is fine...I bet he has a new perspective on driving while tired. It really is dangerous.

I have leaned since his accident that , people fall asleep at the wheel more often then we think. Telling his story I often hear back from many that they have fallen asleep at the wheel.

He still a bit nervous to drive, I think its because he does not trust himself and is uncertain about being able to stay alert and awake. I think he was just over relaxed because it was a drive he has been driving all winter, at times though snow storms others at night and or raining, but this day was just a tranquil over cast lazy day with very little worries. He was up early that morning to tend to his new puppy as well us up late the night before helping some friends that just lost their house due to a fire build some furniture for their new place. I think this one will stick with him and he will never allow himself to get that relaxed behind the wheel , I hope so anyway.

We did get him a new car so I will be adding it to my signature

Its a bit beat up but we got it for 1000.00 so we have a little in our budget to fix it up.
