Wanted manual transmission 940 turbo.
I really dont know if they are out there still. But I have the bug for another 940 turbo, but I wanted to know if anyone had seen any for sale that where manual transmission. If anyone knows where one is that may be in half way decent condition please let me know.

I have a '91 940 Turbo I am currently selling. It's an automatic however, but is in great condition. I just had the new brakes/rotors put in last month, the alternator and battery have recently been replaced and the timing belt was replaced last year. It has 204,000 miles. I'm located in San Diego

Where are you located? In the US, we did not get any 940 manual vehicles. You can buy a 940 and install a manual transmission. You have a choice of the M46(4 speed with overdrive gear), M47(true 5 speed), M90(would have to import from overseas and very costly).
M46/M47 Transmissions do not do well when you increase power output. Once you begin to reach 240-250 hp, they will eventually go out. M90 can handle lots more power but cost is prohibitive but it is a straight forward swap.
The best option and best transmission for a RWD Volvo is the World class T5 ford mustang V8 manual transmission. Depending on where you source parts and the size of your pockets your looking at 1000-1500 for that sort of swap which I plan to do myself really soon.

I am currently saving up right now, but my plan for the long run is going to be 300hp 940 turbo. But I am I am going to do it right and import one from the uk with hopefully less then 100k. I already know its going to be expensive. It's hard to find one with very little miles in the us

I would really recommend the WC T5 swap as this unit is rebuild-able and parts are abundant but ultimately it will be your own decision. And it also has the most ideal gear ratios for a Red Block. Pm me, I made a new contact that has access to both Red & White Block M90s. I will pass on the info to you. I love to see more people importing M90s because it is pretty much a straight forward swap on 700/900 series vehicles.
