Wanted: Volvo s40 cd/tape/ radio
I 'd like to buy a reconditioned part number 3023160 cd / tape player/ radio for my 2003 Volvo s40. I think it has to be that exact number. I bought a reconditioned model HU-615 and it came with a different DIN female on
the back panel. Or find someone that has the parts that can repair mine.
It has 2 major problems- It won't eject CD's and the electronics change function and frequency at random. There are no external steering wheel controls for the radio.
I found a company that sells reconditioned radios, but will not repair mine. If they are afraid of the virus, where do they get sets to recondition?
Many Thanks !!

I bought one through ebay- seller "1 Factoryone". It had been reconditioned, he supplied the code number and it was guaranteed, but the part numbers didn't match when the new unit arrived. I confirmed that the model I wanted matched the model he had for sale. It used a different DIN connector than mine. So it had to go back. "1 factoryone" could not supply the same part number even though both units had the same model number on the front plate- "HU-615". Theirs had a different DIN connector. I don't want to take a chance on buying something that is as old or older than mine and probably has the same problems, and have it die on me the day after the guarantee runs out. The only way to retrieve the CD is to fish it out, and damage it in the process. "1 factoryone" would not repair mine. If they are afraid of the virus- how do they know the radios they get to refurbish are virus free ? - You don't need to answer that. This whole process has been nothing but a disappointment from start to finish and I guess it shows. Never suspected it would be this tough.

The DIN connectors are for an external amp and a remote cd changer? Do you have either of those? If you don't you don't need to use either DIN cable.

HU-615 DIN connectors
There is a 8 pin DIN male connector in the dashboard wiring harness, but it was never used. I thought it might have been for a changer or for remote- steering wheel located volume control or channel change for radio or external amp ?
Can I use a HU-615 without using any of the DIN based connections ? I have no external CD changer or power amp. But again, mine had a 6 pin male plugged into it.
My chassis has a 8 pin and a 6 pin DIN. The chassis that was sent to me only had an 8 pin. My chassis HU-615 has a part number 30623160. The HU-615 that was sent me has a part number 30887088 Talk about confusing...
I've spent most of my professional life working with electronic devices, both very new and very antique. Never saw anything like this. Why not just put both DIN type connectors on both part number chassis ? Not mad- just frustrated !! Not with anyone that has responded !
Many Thanks !!

Does your "rebuilt" unit work w/out a din cable?

I didn't want to take the chance of damaging it and sent it back promptly. When I found the difference and asked the people at 1 Factory Radio, where I bought it, they told me it would not work and to send it back.
