1989 780 Bertone Turbo - Parting Out
#41
Hi driedle,
Been debating this... If you know of a mass produced rim that will fit so that it rolls when it comes time to scrap or keep for a project chassis (also have to move it to another trailer in the same park soon), I'm happy to let all 4 go. It's night here in Clearwater, but will get close-ups tomorrow of each rim.

Just a note for everyone.
I will never try to make money from shipping costs.
I'm happy to weigh out the package before shipping, as well as send you the dimensions of the package, before shpping; so that you can shop around for the best shipping rate.

Hey CWAZYWAZY,
Pulled the Intercooler today and some of the ducting/hardware. Here are a few pics...
None of the fins are bent and all looks to be in fine shape.

Dude, you've got a b230f with Bosch LH 2.2. Don't know why I was thinking that you had a B23F. I'm willing to include the 13mm? connecting rods from my engine so that this actually works for you. The 9mm ones in your engine are an achilles heel.

B21/23's all got identical M-rods, B230 F and FT's '85-89ish got 9mm rods, 90+ish got 13mm rods. 9 and 13mm rods are the same length and width and are interchangeable. 13mm's are just beefier. BUT! As easy as it might sound to just swap rods and pistons, it's a pretty big daunting task that requires a lot of attention. The block would have to be honed at a minimum, along with new rings and probably new bearings

Look, I'd do the entire engine for $700 + Shipping. We were talking 4-500 just for the turbo setup. I would also include any computers, electronics, wiring, main harness, etc. that you would need. This is the Turbo+ setup too. I don't want this thing sitting for months in my driveway. I have a friend that's been driving trucks for 30 years with a CDL. I'll inquire about his circle and if anyone is deadheading or has room to throw this thing on a NY route. Or, check shipping options out. I will tomorrow.
Would probably be the best way to do this. Will it mount straight away? I would also include the transmission with that. Not sure if it's an AW70 or 71. Will check.

Pardon me for being forward, but do you have a steady income? After school job?
There are storage lots that will rent you space to keep your parts car for a couple of months while you strip it. Around here $50/month is one of the going rates.
$100 for 2 months + $500 Turbo parts car. You've got the wagon so you can transport as it's salvaged.

Yup, working at a store. Shipping the whole engine would be awesome, don't bother including the trans. It'd just increase shipping costs. I'd never pick an automatic when given the choice anyway.

Found some crates for $20 that look to fit the longblock. Guy's going to get measurements and call me back.
Shipping/Moving Crates
Been calling around about LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipping. Also, looking for a reman engine dealer in the Tampa area here who might throw it on a CT route for less.

Hey Cwazywazy,
Got a quote today for 2 crates. Overestimated at 650lbs (which includes the weight of the packaging) so I think that it would be less costly than what this quote is. Really need to pull the engine here and get a firm quote. Here's the email:
Eric,
Here is a quote to move two crates - one at 450# with dimensions of 30" X 48" X 36" weighing 450 lbs, and one at 200# with the same dimensions:/
Please bear in mind that this rate would not include any accessorial charges suck as lift-gate delivery, etc. Accessorial charges would need to be stated up front and priced accordingly.
Thank you!
