960 Pricing Help
Too many cars in the stable now, so I'm thinking of putting the 1995 960 Sedan up for sale. Having looked at 960s for over a year when I was buying, I'm confident that it's one of the cleaner ones out there. It doesn't meet my definition of an "enthusiast" car, in that we have simply maintained it and fixed little things as they go wrong. It's been a "driver" for us and the original owner. We did add a nice Pioneer stereo that has Bluetooth for phone and music streaming. It actually sounds amazing with stock speakers. There are 149,000 original miles on the car. Minimal records, but 2 year-old A/C (everything replaced) is documented, along with maintenance and repairs since then. It has a NV rebuilt title due to insurance write-off. I have pics of the damage - just sheet metal (hood, one fender, grill, lights, radiator, etc. The PO installed a front clip and had the car repainted. So it does have an a fresh exterior appearance. The interior is in very good condition. Only significant seat leather wear exists on the left edge of the driver's seat. There's a bit of vinyl bunching/pull-away near the rear windows, a common issue I believe. The dash is uncracked. Sunroof functions fine. The passenger window works perfectly from it's own switch, but the driver's switch will not raise the window. The tires have about 1/2 tread remaining.
I'm not sure where to put the price. I understand nobody can get exact with seeing and driving the 960, but a range would be helpful. Thanks!

Yes, did that. I can tell from pics that the three or so in my area are not as clean, and two have much higher mileage. And the pricing is from $1200 to $3000, so no real guideline there. On Autotrader, there are lots of $1000-$2000 960s, mostly with higher mileage or crummy asthetics. There are also a few at $4000+. Again, a bit confusing to me. When I was looking for a 960, somebody said "any running Volvo that's straight and clean is worth $2000." Made sense then, not sure if it's true now. I'm thinking of $2500 as an ask, which might leave a bit of room for lowering as-is, and perhaps another $300 if they don't want the stereo. All-new in December, it's current technology that would cost more than that to redo, not counting labor - I took hours to properly route wires from dash to trunk, Bluetooth mic, etc.

Whenever I sell a particular Volvo car, mine is usually the best one on there compared to the others listed and best priced. I know what people look for in cars in general. Most people want a clean ride, they are not too worried about the mechanical aspect. As long as your car is in clean and in decent running shape someone will buy it. But remember if no one is responding to your ad you may have to lower price. I'd take the stereo out and put the OEM back in if its not too much trouble??
