FOR SALE: 1983 Volvo 242 DL
I have here a 1983 Volvo 242. 4cylinder engine. 4 speed manual transmission with push-button over-drive. Mileage is unknown, as the cable is disconnected(since before i bought car). Car is maroon with beije interior, all manual locks and windows. Steel 5-star rims with Volvo beauty rings and caps. Rear-wheel drive vehicle. Heat works quite well, but the AC needs updated and re-charged. Have all invoices for parts purchased.
New parts INSTALLED:
-Bosch plugs
-Bosch wires
-Bosch oil filter
-Bosch cap
-MANN air filter
-MGD fuel filter
-Newer front tires
-Newer front air dam
-Oil changed with high mileage synthetic
-Newer fog lamps behind grille
-Newer CD player and rear speakers
New parts NOT INSTALLED:
-Brembo solid rotors(still in boxes)
-PBR pads(still in boxes)
-PBR brake hardware(includes e-brake hardware)
-Surge performance chips levels 1&2(still in wrapping)
-GT spoiler(used and reclaimed)
-Eastern catalytic converter(still in box)
The BAD NEWS:
-The car is not running at this point in time, probably due to a bad fuel pump and clogged catalytic converter. The fuel pump for this car can be purchased at any O'Rielly parts store for around $100 and the catalytic converter comes with the car. Notably, the exhaust will need to be replaced at some point, but if you don't mind it being a little loud, then its no big deal. Also, the fuel pump is an "in-line", meaning the main pump is underneath the car right beside the fuel filter. Lastly, the car does have rust behind the rear wheels at the bottom edge of the quarter panels.
All in all this car is a very good deal given all of the extras that come with it. I had planned on having diagnostics run on the car to determine the cause of it not running, but I am 85% sure that it is the fuel pump or the relay associated. I just don't have the time or money anymore. I am only asking what I have in the car, which is $1000. If I fix anything else the cost will go up.
