FOR SALE: 1997 Volvo 850R
Feeler for interest. White with tan interior. Volan wheels. The car has ~120K miles, purchased with 79K about 12 years ago.
Work performed since purchased includes:
- Timing belt (when first purchased)
- Plug wires, cap, etc.
- PCV system (a few times)
- Radiator replaced (I think? That might have been my Sportage)
- Heater core replaced
- Brakes, parking brake shoes
- Rear shock mounts, shocks and springs
- Front half shafts
- Probably several other "common" failures repaired, but can't recall them at the moment.
The bad:
- Headliner falling
- Check engine light on (guessing the PCV elbow at the side of the manifold yet again, but not sure because I can't find my scan tool)
- Filler neck gas tank leak (Would be fixed under an open recall, haven't taken it in).. could also be the cause of the CEL.
- Tires need replaced
- Too much negative camber on the rear wheels - trailing arm replacement might fix?
- Paint is starting to show it's age because it is parked outside. Dent on lower rear passenger door (another car kicked something into it from the road while driving next to me), paint blemish on rear bumper.
- Air conditioning not working. The "bread bag clip" fix might work, haven't tried.
- Driver door stay broken (door metal actually fatigued and broke)
- Needs a new exhaust.
I love the car but never drive it anymore. Any time I decide to drive it, the battery is dead, or a tire is flat (slow leak). It's time for it to go. KBB says private party value for this car in "Fair" condition has a bottom of about $2600. I'm looking for $1000 cash, pick it up in my driveway (Stow, Ohio). I haven't posted it anywhere else yet, I thought I'd give an enthusiast a chance to get it. I have some extra parts, and some oil filters that will come with it.
If interested, PM me and I can send some pics.

Post this up on Grassroots Motorsports classifieds forum - not only do these things have a following there, but GRM runs a yearly competition for sub-$2000 cars.
