Selling a 1992 Volvo 240 Sedan. Completely original signal red paint and legendary B230F engine. Odometer sits at 96,202 and has been broken for the past ~3 years. Estimated mileage is approximately 100k. Equipped with the 4-speed auto transmission.
Purchased new in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and taken to North Carolina in 1993. Has been a Southern car ever since. Absolutely no rust on the trunk floorboards or the undercarriage.
It was purchased new by my mother, then a medical student, before ownership was transferred to my 80-year-old grandmother. CarFax will likely show two owners, but the car has been in the family since new.
Recent service: new tires, oil change, new battery, new brake pads and rotors, A/C recharge (now blows very cold).
Cosmetics:
-Clear coat has faded on the trunk and hood panels. As a result, paint is dull.
-Trim pieces are separating from the body in a few places (documented in photos below).
-Dent in the rear right quarter panel and bumper from backing into a pole at under 5 mph.
-Hood fitment is slightly off.
-Scuff on the rear right passenger door.
-Radio is inop due to broken antenna.
-Right front turn signal lens is cracked.
Pros:
-Totally original paint and interior
-Virtually no interior issues other than a small leak that occasionally lets in rainwater.
-Original Thule ski roof rack included with sale.
-Wheel wells are clean and solid.
-All emissions and manufacturer's stickers present under the hood.
-Headlights and taillights work, along with fog lights.
-Original windshield has been replaced.
Mechanical:
-Car starts and runs well, even after sitting extensively. I tried started the car for the first time in ~2 months yesterday and had no trouble. Occasionally requires some revving on cold start.
-Drive belt squeaks occasionally on a cold start.
Pros:
-Engine runs cool and smoothly, even during hot days. Transmission shifting is smooth, as is suspension and steering.
-Braking is predictable with no shudders.
-Original exhaust has been replaced with a steel unit.
Overall, this is an honest, well-maintained 240 that would make a great ski car or first car. Asking $6,500. Car is located in Charlotte, NC.
Happy to arrange shipping for out-of-state buyers. Serious buyers only please with a cashier's check.
