RE: Oil change / synthetic oil

I use a 4 month/3,000 mile routine for my cars. My wife and I put very little mileage on our cars so by the end of the 4 months we are usually at about 1,500 miles. As you can see Imainly change the...

RE: Taillight Lessoned Learned

Yeah I would drop by the dealership and have them give it a try. I'm at a loss as to why you'd still have the error if everything is working fine with the bulbs?!?!?!? [:@]

RE: Boot not closing and idle problems

The gas mileage on my 2000 Volvo S80 is about 20 for in town and 25-30 for highway, and that's with premium gas. You're getting some great gas mileage out of your car! :D

RE: Taillight Lessoned Learned

That's strange. [&:] I have used Autozone for the purchasing of all my bulbs and haven't had any issues. I'm sorry it turned out to be such a pain for you. Maybe your car is just "sensitive" and...

RE: Bulb Failure - Position Light

If my memory serves me right, I believe that the position light is your rear brake light. It can be difficult to see though so look very closesly. What I did is I replaced all the bulbs for the rear...

RE: Noise when I full lock the steering

I have never had my tires rub when the wheel is locked, but that wheel well is pretty tight so it would surprise me if it did happen on some tires. ;)

RE: Noise when I full lock the steering

That'd be the last time I went to that tire place. What a waste of time and money, I would've been having a long talk with the store manager or corporate office (assuming they aren't just local). :D...

RE: Cost estimate for valve job after timing belt slip

I replaced mine at 67,000 miles on my 2000 Volvo S80. The mechanic said that my belt looked great but at 8 years old I figured I'm not out anything to get it done prior to catastrophic failure. Too...

RE: Choice of Oil

I've heard of this also but everything I've read on the internet ays that it's garbage. I have heard of problems happening when you go from full synthetic to standard or blended oil. But there again...

RE: 45 mph = Ticking noise in the car?

I thought it might be something along this line. I'm assuming that this motor turns itself off and on to adjust the air in the cab? :D

45 mph = Ticking noise in the car?

My wife and I were driving our 2000 Volvo S80 the other day, we had decided to turn the radio off for whatever reason and we also didn't have any of the AC/Heater fans going. The windows were rolled...

Wow, thanks for that info I haven't ever ran into that. I'll check that little tidbit into my brain for future reference. :D

RE: Radio Reception

I too have noticed that my Volvo doesn't have the greatest range for FM radio. I always assumed it had to do with antenna placement but I suppose their may be some tweaks that could help. :D

RE: new to volvos but want a s80 to runs mid 13's

I would get a S60 if I was going to try and race a Volvo. And even then I think there are much better cars to tune out there. :D

RE: Cabin Air Filter and Pollen Filter?

The cabin air filters function is pretty simple, it cleans the air for the cabin of the car.:D I believe the recommendation on changing that is every 15,000 miles, I would double check in your owners...

RE: 2000 S80, timing belt came thru cover at stop.

I had the dealership do the work for me. The total came out to around $870 when it was all said and done. Doing the timing belt is a very labor intensive job, there's no way around it. That $870 also...

RE: noise when turning the steering wheel

There's something wrong with your power steering. Take it in and have a mechanic check it out for you. It could be any number of things (Power Steering Fluid, Pump or the whole system!) so find out...

RE: 2000 S80, timing belt came thru cover at stop.

Change your timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley. I changed all of that on my 2000 S80 and it only has 67,000 miles on it. I would rather spend the $800 than have what happened to lw1668 happen to...

RE: Thinking Of Buying 1999-2000 S80, have an acura TL but love Volvo

The ETM is the Electronic Throttle Module. They have been known to cause some issues from time to time, I personally haven't had any problems with my ETM except for the software upgrade. Beyond that...

RE: now tranny problems....

Ouch! Sounds like the previous owner didn't maintain the car well at all. You've got yourself a lemon, I would look into pursuing the lemon laws in your state and getting a refund. ;)
