The resistor is actually on the blower motor assembly. You'll have to remove the blower motor to get to it.

In my experience I always check the condition of the actual coils first nto the wires. Check for cracks on the coil under the rubber boot.

I'm assuming that you are trying to replace the rear pads. The piston needs to be turned and pushed in at the same time. There are special tools out there for it.
