1/8th mile drag race N/A 740
 

im going to be attending a racing event this weekend at a local track and was wondering what kind of time i should expect on a fairly stock1990 b230f 740 wagon with CAI, one muffler cut out and a E-fan.
And any tips on the race its just a street machine braggin rights sorta thing.

That's slow going. Your 1/4 mile time would be around 24 seconds.

Sorry to bring up a dead horse. I just wanted to comment on laroqet's ET. On the surface his 1/8 mile sounds bad, but hey, its a brick - nonturbo at that. I also know a little bit about timeslips. I was curious to find out what his 1/4 mile time would have been had he run it. So I crunched the numbers. Here it is if you're wondering.

Original numbers: 12.395s @ 61mph ET (elapsed time)
Figuring that it was your first time at the track your RT (reaction time) would be less than great. I figured a reasonable 0.7s RT, since its not listed. To calculate acceleration its (change in velocity)/(change in time). Convert mph to fps and the units for accel are in ft/sec^2.
Math: 61(miles/hour) * 5280(ft/mile) / 3600(sec/hour) = 89.4666 ft/sec which is his velocity.
(89.466 ft/sec)/(12.395-0.7sec) = 7.650 ft/sec^2 which is his average acceleration.

Using the equation d= vi*t + (1/2)*a*t^2, where vi is initial velocity (zero) gives us
t^2 = 2*d/a and solving for t gives us sqrt((2*1320)/7.650) = 18.579 sec
Add the RT back on and it gives him a 19.279sec 1/4 mile time theoretically.

Not quite burning tires fast. But that number is based on your 1/8mile time. With practice I'm sure you could get your 1/8mile time down to mid-11s and your 1/4mile time would come way down. Something like that (without doing the math) would be around high 17s.
