Learned something new today - Active Sound Control...
I was reading today and learned that many of the sound systems (SC-816, etc) have a feature that automatically adjust the sound volume according to the speed you are traveling. I knew they put that in the 780's back in the day but I thought they got rid of it later. From the manual:
--------------------------------------- E - Active sound control (ASC) The ASC function automatically adjusts the volume level of the audio system according to driving speed. To deactivate ASC depress the "CD" button until "ASC" is no longer displayed. To activate ASC, depress the "CD" button until "ASC" is displayed (approx. 2 seconds). --------------------------------------- |
Nice, thanks for posting this.

Ehhhhhhh, doesn't seem to work on my '95, with my transplanted SC-816. :(
|
doesn't work well period. Volvo was not known for good radios and speakers in there cars.

I'd have to disagree with that statement. I've been very satisfied with all of my stereo's. Alpine made all of them to my knowledge, through '00. I just don't think my '95 had the feature for the radio. I could be wrong.

alpine was factory in BMW not Volvos.
Alpine is good brand, speaker wise, but there HUs can bet better. Kenwood had the most powerful HUs out there, but speakers I wouldn't buy for the life of me. Best sounding components are Infinity Reference series hands down. Best subs out there are Alpine E and R series. You should always couple subs with matching brand amps. |
