2013 XC60 jerks when downshifting
Hellos
My XC60 keeps jerking when donwshifting to gear 1. I've done a gearbox overhaul and replaced with new seals, clean oil etc but the issue is still persistent. My mechanic says the clutches are ok no signs of worn out or anything alarming. When we run diagnostic no errors are reported.
Any guidance on what else to check ?

No replacement done but thanks for the hint. Tuning was also done after the service. Am considering replacing the clutches or worse case replace the entire gearbox (last resort).
Before jumping into above, i'll be happy to hear other quick options to check before I go that line

I doubt it would be the clutches - my suspect list is its a sticky solenoid, a connectivity issue with the TCU or the wrong fluid type was used was overhauled. Do you know offhand which transmission your car has? You can also consult the owners manual for what Volvo cites as their part number for the transmission fluid type. Check this post out:

This suggests you may use JWS3309 or AW-1 depending on serial number.

Thanks for your inputs.
So we checked on the solenoids, 1 was stuck but we managed to sort it out. We are using Westway Powershift Fluid for Ford BO-DC Transmission MPS6 / 6DCT450.
I don't wan to jump into buying another gearbox as being advised as I believe there is an element that needs to be sorted and the issue clears.
Thanks for your inputs.

Hi Nesh
Did you manager to resolve the issue? I'm experiencing same issues with my mps6 powershift gearbox on xc60 2013 t5

My issue is that, very occasionally the low gears are jerky. This is mostly when driving in traffic situations with frequent stops...
Living with it for now
I've also been given advise to replace gearbox ( my last resort). Before I jump to that, I want to believe since its clear its a common issue with 2013 models someone somewhere on this planet may know what the cause of it. Replacing gearbox could be a good idea but my worry is - What if it also happens on the replaced gearbox! Do I keep replacing gearbox forever? I believe there is some component that leads to this issue, forgive my persistence but am a tech guy I believe in finding problems and solving them.....

1. When the Powershift gearbox jerks on the lower gears means that the clutch unit is nearly gone. The source of the problem is the mechatronic unit that has sent incorrect oil pressure to the clutch unit and damaged it. The dark oil is do to roasted dual clutch unit.Only way to fix the gearbox is the full rebuild. 2. In which case if that’s your issues then fitting a mechanical gearbox alone would not solve your issues as you have a pressure based issue which comes without the clutch, valvebody or mechatronic which you will almost certainly have an issue with one of them.
I'm waiting on getting my hands on diagnostic tools to reset TCM adaptation with fingers and toes crossed that it resolves the issue...
@Xc602013PowershiftT5 thanks for the insight. I was coming to the forum for a quick check on whether anyone might have a solution. I may want to incline to your suggestion to rebuild the box. I've been advised there is a transmission repair kit which as you hinted replaces the clutch, valve body, for Mechatronic - not sure about it. Might anyone have an idea of the repair kit and is it a viable option to try out?
Good people, I have good news......(Drums rolling)
After struggling for so long I opted to the replace the solenoids and voila..... The car downshifts smoothly. Let me tell you I've never enjoyed a drive this much.
Thanks @mt6127 and everyone's contributions. @BigMiles Finally I go a solution. @Xc602013PowershiftT5 You can consider replacing the solenoids.
Let me now go and enjoy my drives.
