The battery intermittently dies from a power drain. One source is the "Engine Valves" which I noted before but there is something else also. So, decided to use a remote battery disconnect so not to get stuck somewhere when left overnight. $21 from Amazon. This goes between the negative battery post and cable and has a tapered post like the battery for the cable. There was no room for the module behind the battery so was going to put it on the positive terminal which can be done, however, the positive terminal has two cables connected to a block which connects to the battery and no way to bend the cables around to connect them to the module. So, took out the battery hold down clamp, moved the battery forward and reclamped it. Now there is enough room for the module behind the battery although the battery cover does not fully close. All connected, it works except now the alarm goes off when the boat is locked and the battery is disconnected. Removed fuse 26 Alarm which solved that but now the central console no longer works. Have to find the alarm and disconnect it. Nobody pays attention to them anyway.
Found it will not kill the engine if turned off whilst the engine is running. One big drawback, disconnecting the battery will reset the engine monitors so it cannot be used before a smog test but better than randomly finding the battery dead. Also will clear the clock and radio presets. Draws about 6ma.
Would like to know which idiot decided the injection system need to be powered when opening the door but will not let the windows work with the key in and not running.
