1985 240DL ATF requirments.
Any one what the Transmission and PowerSteering ATF is supposed to be for my B230F. Fluid in both is old, but works fine thus far. I've heard people using just about anything, but I cant find proper specs. Canadian Tire told me Dexron III but those guys are usually idiots.

The original specs called for type F. Dexron III works fine.

Dexron III would work, as well as dex/merc III, as well as dexron VI, as well as mercon V. All of the above transmission fluids will be compatible with the AW transmission. The power steering called for Ford type F, and I believe it had a ford-made p/s pump, but due to the scarcity of type F, as well as ford superceding type F as a p/s fluid with mercon III/V I'd say you're safe to use merc III/V or dex/merc.

hahah, I'm glad that made your day. I love Canadian Tire, but i've met few competent people who work there.
Thanks for the input guys. Dexron III is getting scarce here now too. What do you guys think of Mobil Super ATF 3309, or Mobil Multi Vehicle. I don't like cheap brands. |
