1988 245DL B230F Auto
PROBLEM: Car doesn't idle unless you unplug the MAF sensor. I tried a used replacement, didn't solve the problem. I don't know if I have another bad MAF or it's a different problem.
Coupla questions: 1. Does anyone know how to test a MAF sensor for this model? 2. The only visible difference between the 1988 MAF and years after is the missing adjustment screw. Can I use the later one without the screw? Or will that cause problems? Bosch no longer makes the one with the screw but you can get a reman for like $1200. Would prefer not to shell out that kind of dough if it will run one without the screw. 3. There are cheapo versions available, $50 on ebay and $132 from Autozone (probably the same thing.). Are these trustworthy? Very leery. |
You have to use the MAF for LH 2.2 fuel injection system - which was used on models up to '88. In '89 they switched to LH 2.4 and the MAF from '89 and later will not work in your car.
Like I posted in your other thread, aftermarket MAFs are shady at best. Avoid the eBay ones. Go search the threads here and on Brickboard and you will find stories of MAFs that don't work out of the box. I have read even the new Volvo branded ones have had issues (they don't sell Bosch replacements anymore). |

solution to bad MAF
Are these ECU boxes Chrysler, and has anyone tried sourcing parts from that direction?

These are Bosch ECUs. LH Jetronic is a Bosch fuel injection system.
