1989 Volvo Wagon 750 With Turbo .Problem Cuts Out When Turbo Engages

I Really Need Help I Have A .1989 Volvo Wagon 750 With Turbo

It Start And Run Good No Problem There

But When I Step On The Gas Pedal And The Turbo Engages The Engine Will Cut Out And Die And It Can Drive Around A Little Bit But When That Turbo Engage It Will Shut It Down

I'm Trying To Fix It For My Brother He Got A Baby On The Way And The Car Is In Really Good Shape No Dents Everything But That Issue With That Turbo

Thank For Any Help

If the boost gets too high (maybe waste gate hose is broken) on some Volvos the fuel pump power is cut, making the car loose power - OR

Any air leak between the air mass meter and the throttle plate can cause a power loss, such as a hole in one of the inter-cooler hoses, on the exhaust side from the turbo to the inter-cooler, Air mass meter to turbo, and the 2 short ones at the top on the drivers side - all get holes in them - OR

Look in the air filter box - there's a foam pad that comes off and blocks the flow of air into the air mass meter (i imagine that's been gone a while though) - OR

The fuel pump is failing, under high boost/high fuel demand the fuel pump can't deliver enough fuel and the system goes very lean - OR

Many other possibilities -
