1991 240 Passenger Side Power Door Lock?
 

Hey everybody, I have an idea, but need some advice on whether or not anyone thinks it'll work. One thing I like about my 1991 Mercedes is that you can lock and unlock all the doors and trunk from both the driver’s and passenger side doors and the trunk. I’d like to carry this over a bit to my 1991 240’s passenger side door.


Does anyone think that I can scavenge a driver’s side power door lock assembly from a junk yard and install it on the passenger side door of my car allowing the entire car to be unlocked from the passenger side just as the driver’s side? Obviously, I would want to use just the guts of the salvage car’s lock mechanism so that I can continue to use my key. Does anybody think this will work?

I think it will work, try it! Simple mod worth doing if you need it.

Well, I looked at a really clean ’89 240 recently and discovered that not only is the locking mechanism different from driver to passenger side, but the wiring is also. They don’t interchange. I might have an idea though. It may be a while before I post again on this issue. Wish me luck!
