RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
You will be fine with just doing pads for now i actually just did that myself but it is a good idea too do the rotors as well or you could just do them later and everything will work just fine.

RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
There is NO NEED to touch the rotors if they are not warped or too thin. If you car doesn't shake while braking, then don't worry about the rotors. Shops like to do them for the extra $.

RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
what type break pads should i get ceramic, organic or semi metallic not sure the pros vs cons of the differnt types ... all your help would be great ..
|
RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
I use PBR for my Volvos-good prices, no squeal. Ceramics are pricey, more metal, more squeal. Organic are cheap and soft and don't last too much...

RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
sorry for so many questions just want to do it right how do i find out if my car has abs ??
|
RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
I believe ALL '91 Volvos in the US do have ABS. Under the hood, on the passenger side there should be a good size metal box with brake lines coming out of it and it should say ABS, Bosch, etc. on it.

RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
I have a '90 740 gle wagon. Do I check under the hood in the same spot to see if I have ABS?
|
RE: 1991 volvo 740 break job
Yes. Also on the dash there should be an ABS light along with the rest of the warning lights when the key is ON-don't even have to open the hood for that one.
