1993 940 stalling when hot
1993 940 non turbo auto wagon
My car recently started to stall. If I drive it around allday, it works good, however when I shut it off and try to restart it while the engine is still warm-hot, it would stall immediately after putting it into drive. I would have to step on the gas a little and the brakes at the same time while it's in drive and then it would go. After that, it would run all day until I shut it down again. In the morning, this does not happen. It only happens when the engine is hot or warm. Any help would be appreciated. |

Any Codes?

RE: 1993 940 stalling when hot
I get 1-4-3 in position 6 . I replaced the knock sensor and cleared the code and the check engine light stayed off for a week. Now it's back on and the same code. However, even after replacing the knock sensor, the car would die when restarting if it's warm or hot.

I will bet that something else is causing that code.
Maybe a coolant temp sensor. |

Another problem is I am unable to erase the code from the diagnostic box. I have to disconnect the neg cable. I do know how to do it and it worked about a year ago but now it doesn't. The way I try to do it is with the ignition on, insert the wire into position 3 , hold for 5 sec then release for 3 sec then hold again for 5 sec. please let me know if that's correct.

You have to make sure you Read all the codes first then Clear them.
Also hold the button down for more like 10 seconds. |
