Default 2"X3" Hitch Receiver on 1988 740 GLE Wagon

I'm rather new to the marquee. I have a 1988 740 GLE wagon that has a hitch receiver installed on it. It's odd (at least to me) as it is 2 inches tall but 3 inches wide. Anyone have an idea where I might get a hitch/ball for it? Thanks in advance.

you need the tow bar, and thats the old style european size. I *had* one of those, left over from our wrecked 1993 960 wagon, but sold it to someone last year for the shipping cost. once you have the towbar, you can use any standard sized ball on it.

is a real volvo one... they show up on ebay from time to time.

I've opted to use the standard class II american 1.5" recievers from Draw-Tite on my cars.

pierce, Thanks for the info (and the pic). I'd be happy to find someone else who would sell one for that!!! I'd like to have one just to have one. I don't have a trailer (yet) but I do have an old snowmobile and who knows, I may have to transport it somewhere. I'm not gonna invest in a new receiver 'til I know I need it.

actually, it fits nicely in a prepaid USPS Priority box. $15 or something flat rate for anywhere in the US. take the ball off first, and you can fit it in a smaller box.
