240 Front Door Speaker Size??
 

I just installed a Kenwood CD player in my 93 245 today. Everything works as it should, but the stock speaker suck.

I bought two 5-1/4 speakers today for the rear doors, and installed them. It went fine.

I went to install one of the rear door speakers (the one not blown) into the front drivers door (speaker was missing) so I would have 2 good speakers in the rear, and 2 OK ones in the front.

The rear speaker (5-1/4") Seemed way to big for the front.

Am I missing something? The front looks more like a 4" to me.

I'm not sure but you are probably correct. When new, the stereo's in these cars sounded pretty good. As electronics age and speakers dry out, they sound gets worse and worse.

I would check the specs on your new stereo and get speakers that will sound good with it. You may have to do a little modding on your car door behind the panel but that should be fine as long as your window lifts clear the magents.

Yeah, the speakers I picked up yesterday (two 5-1/4 inch blaupunkt) measured out to the same size as the ones I took out of the rear (depth, width...etc).

Drivers door was missing a speaker all together, so I took one of the speakers from the rear (the better one) and sort of half way screwed it in the drivers door,...but it obviously does not fit, or I'm missing something huge.


Hey, I have another question for you since I noticed you have a few newer volvo's. There is a 96 Platinum edition Turbo wagon were I live in pretty nice shape, 110k. The girl is asking $3400. What would be a "good deal" on this car?

front speaker size is either 6.5", 5.25" or 4" Every 93 240 I have seen has the larger round style speakers in the front with the black mesh volvo grills...maybe yours is different. Just make sure you are putting the speaker in with the connectors at the top. I have aftermarket speakers in my 91 245 I believe they are metric speakers they have a 50.1m marking on them...hope this helps bit I really think your front speakers are either 5.25 or 6.5" round...the older models had 4" and original rear speakers on the 90's 245's were always smaller than the front...
