Default 245 dl won't start... Still

I replaced my starter as the vehicle seemed to want to crank but wouldn't turn over. The vehicle won't start now. It makes a click but that's it. The vehicle also seems to not think it is in park. As the front wheels spin freely. Ignition is hooked up. Took off shifter cover to make sure everything was in good order and it is. Any chance I got a bad remanifactured started? Any other thoughts/ suggestions? Thanks in advance

Ben

Make sure that you connected two fat wires to the large lug on the starter. I recently performed an engine swap and forgot one of the fat wires (it was hiding on me) and I had the exact same symptoms as you. I could hear a click like the soleniod was engaging but the starter didn't turn over.

You could try jumpering the large lug on the starter to the small and see if it engages and spins properly that way. Just use a screwdriver to jumper between the two.

Regarding the front wheels spinning freely - they should. This is a rear wheel drive car.

the fatter red wire goes to the battery, the not-quite-as-fat one goes to the alternator.

Make sure your battery is strong enough.

So...Bentron. The car was doing the same thing with the old starter...yes? Were there any recent events with the car while it was still running? For instance, was it run hot by any chance?

So one red cable goes to the starter and the other to the alternator? It was never run hot and the old (bad) starter was acting different than this. Thanks for the help, Ben

battery+ ==> starter power (pin 30) --> alternator B+

pink(? may be other colors) 'start' wire from ignition key -> starter solenoid control (50)

thin red (? may be other colors) wire from dashboard 'alternator light' -> alternator D+

I was just asking where the 2 wires from the battery go. Both thick red cables both go to the starter?
