740 fuel injection problem?
I have a 740 1990 wagon I bought to fix and put on the road. I was able to start it once and it ran quite weakly, barely able to keep itself running in nuetral let alone drive anywhere. I towed it home and in doing some checking, determined it has a great spark. I cranked the engine over with one plug out of the cylinder, expecting that there may be a slight fog of gas vapor pushed out. Instead, I was amazed to discover that essentially a fountain of gas droplets spurted out of the cylinder with each stroke leading me to believe the injectors are delivering far too much fuel. Has anyone run into this problem or have an idea of what to look for to correct this problem? Will the computer tell me what is wrong? What is required to read the computer code?
Thanks for any help!

Sounds as if the Coolant Temp Sensor thinks the engine is real cold...
Good Luck

RE: 740 fuel injection problem?
There is a 2 inch square black plastic box under the hood on the drivers side near the shock tower. Take the top off and plug the small black wire into plug 3 or 6. Press the small button once and watch the red light. Count the flashes. It will be a 3 digit code with numbers between 1 and 6. Example 113 = injectors. 111= no faults. Are you sure it isn't water coming out of the #1 cyl???
