missing air filter
Bought this new '82 240 DL and there is no air filter or housing! Where can I buy a new housing for the air filter? I'm loving the new ride but can't be spewing out the brown smoke behind my Volvo - bad for the clean air here in Hawaii!! What is my best option????
Thanks!!

You should look online on ebay... Also try Turbobricks.com. That site is geared more towards the Old Skool bricks and there's always someone on there selling parts. On the old bricks, a popular mod is to remove the filter and filter housing. Gives you a throatier sound on the exhaust and it's not as restrictive on air intake. I bet that's why you don't have one

Thanks - wow these responses are fast! Would the air filter affect performance by restricting the air intake? I could care less about that throatier sound. I didn't get the car off the previous driver but his mother. She had said something about it having a separate storage tank for some liquid there in the past which is why the housing was removed. Don't think this car was ever modified to run on veggie. For whatever reason, there is no housing so I'll check out that site you recommended.
Thanks!

It's not necessarily the air filter... The box in which houses the filter is somewhat restrictive. I had a 240 a few months ago and everyone told me to ditch the box since it was a restrictive design.. I didn't since I didnt want all that "junk going right into the motor. I did reroute the air intake tube in front of the air box

Yeah, I plan on running it on vege in a few months, but haven't looked too much into that right now. For the time being, though, I don't want my car to roll down the street sounding like a huge pickup! I'm looking for an old air filter housing, but may have to buy what I can find and try to modify it. Any suggestions on what newer filter housings may work?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
