82 240 LH-Jetronic starts, suges and quits
Hello and any assistance appreciated!
82 245 LH-Jetronic. Starts, suges and quits. I can keep it going for a minute or so by pumping accelerator but than it quits. Stumbles, hiccups, surges again, then quits.
1. 10 gals fuel in tank, added two small botthes drygas.
2. Replaced fuel filter. Only a little water and no other crap came out of filter.
3. Replaced in-tank pump because couldn't hear it when listening at fuel cap (off) when friend turned on key. 9.5 volts present at connector to pump. Should be 12 but I don't know why there's less and what if that could be the peoblem.
4. Cleaned electrical connections to fuses 5 (ank pump) and 7 (main pump) and connection near tank pump.
5. Strong whirring sound from main pump when I jump terminals between fuses 5 and 7.
I suppose next I'll take off fuel line near regulator and see if there's crap in the gas, and collect it in jug to see if it pumps the required volume. (Can anyone say what that is?) Then If I have a pressure tester I'll do that. Also I'll see if I can see any damage to fuel lines. Beyond thatI'm stumped. Could replace main pump but $200 on a random shot?
Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

RE: 82 240 LH-Jetronic starts, suges and quits
Problem solved with replacement of air mass meter. I went through a lot of unnecessary testing: should have just checked for the basics: is it getting spark, fuel and air? After testing all electronics with Haynes and Volvo manuals, I remembered one time my air intake (on another Volvo) was plugged with an oil dipstick rag I kept in engine compartment. So I checked air intake passages and took off AMM and it ran fine. Would have been easier just to unplug AMM. I much appreciate the suggestions respondents have made--not all of them are listed here.
