87 740 Turbo Lifted?
 

Ok, here is a strange question. Does anyone know if you can lift a 740 turbo wagon using either a body lift or a suspension lift? I don't want to "jack" it up I would like to try and get a little more clearance as well as put some decent off-road or all terrain tires on it. I saw that IPD (I think it was) lifted a 95 xc70, but I could not find any kits. Any tips or suggestions would be great, oh and I can't afford a custom fab shop job looking for something a little cheaper.

Yea, that is a strange question. Are you talking about raising a Volvo in the air like those guys are doing to the caprice classics? OMG!

Not so much like that. I don't want to put huge rims on it I am looking to make the car more like a rugged suv maybe. Some thing that will be able to plow through a good amount of snow.

I'd look at off road tyres on 15" rims as an easy 2" lift, they shouldn't foul teh guards if you keep the width reasonable.
Airbags in the rear springs will give you 2" lift, the front could be a problem, you may need special, longer struts. Front geometry would have to be checked too (check at full droop, camber will be an issue).

You can Purchase rear springs from a toyota Previa. They are a couple inches longer and much stiffer. But you would probably have to create a different pick up for the top mount of the rear shock in order to take advantage of that raise. AS for the front. You could probably weld a couple inches of tubing into the front strut holders. Since they are just empty tubes. But then you'll also have to add a spacer at the bottom of the tube the same length as how much you added to the tube. This will change the geometry obviously. And you might have to go without a sway bar on the front at minimum. Also you can get parts to make a suspension from Coleman Racing. http://www.colemanracing.com/
