88 245 Temporary no power, no oil weird transmission problem
 

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had any insight into what just happened to my Volvo. So I was on the way home, I had driven a few blocks and the was fine, I stopped at a red light, and when I went to go again, it seemed like 2nd or 3rd gear had much less power and wouldn't progress beyond that. So I stop and check the tranny fluid and it's very low (just the tip is wet). So I get towed 11 miles to a autopart store and then I buy tranny fluid and as I'm about to put it in, I recheck the fluid level and it is spot on and clear, not black. So i was like what the heck happened? since it didn't need fluid I figured I'd try it out and sure enough it ran find switching gears. anybody have any suggestions about what to do to prevent this from happening again? the tranny fluid is pretty good, using dex/merc from valvoline. I just can't explain the temporary low level of fluid...blockage?

you check it with engine running, right? sometimes you can get weird readings. i always check it a couple of times to make sure.

for reference, took it to the mechanic and found it was the spark plug wires (original ones on there). felt kind of bad because I had ordered those wires just a day before and was going to replace them anyway. o well.
