'93 Volvo 240 Sedan - Speaker install issue
 

I'm in the process of replacing all four speakers and the head unit in my '93 240 Sedan because two of the four speakers were blown and the official Volvo head unit needed a code to work and I figured I'd just go ahead and upgrade it.

With the two speakers in the front doors, if the window is down even an inch, and I close the door, I can hear the magnets on the speakers smack against the window and I do not want the window to shatter because of it. Is there anything I can purchase (such as an adapter for the speakers) that would push them out from the door a little bit, or some kind of DIY solution to this issue?

It would also be greatly appreciated if someone could explain to me (or point me in the direction of a guide/tutorial) how to remove the speakers from the rear deck. I have looked and looked and still cannot figure out how to get them out.

you need to fabricate a spacer to raise the door speakers a bit, I don't think there's anything off the shelf. a car stereo shop made me something out of wood ages ago. the outside matches the grill, the inside holds the speaker, and its about 3/8" thick. the edge is painted the same color as the grill and door so it blends in fairly well.

oh.. you might check and see if your speakers have a rubber or plastic cover over the magnets... those serve no purpose other than cosmetic, remove them to gain more clearance.

I suggest sealing speakers to their mounting surfaces with a bead of RTV (silicone rubber, like aquarium sealant). making their mount relatively airtight greatly improves the sound quality.

my 240 had no rear parcel shelf speakers at all, I had to cut my own holes in it (for nice big meaty 6.5" 2-ways), so I can't help you there.

No one seems to know how to get the rear speakers out
 

I am searching and searching and can't find any post or video on the rear speakers. It's amazing.
