'94 940t Pwr Window only goes down half way...

Ive got a 94 94o turbo sedan, 240k miles.

Window worked fine yesterday... today when I put the window down, it humms right along just fine until is gets half way. It seems to be binding up on something as the door panel bulges out. When I put the window back up, it goes right along as if nothing is wrong.

Just when putting it down, half way down the panel bulges as if it would pop off if I continued putting the window down.

Other than that, no issues at all. I was actually impressed with how well they worked... as this isnt my first used Volvo...

Your thoughts?

Most likely the regulator is broken. Which door is it?

Drivers side.

if it is the regulator, what other signs should I see?

Well, the window not operating properly combined with the inner door flexing is pretty much enough. The mechanism is binding and torquing outward. The regulator is mounted to a fairly health piece of door. To flex it takes quite a bit of force. It's easy to remove the door panel on 7's. I would take a look before I used the window much; you're liable to break the glass.

Well this time of year it shouldnt be too hard to keep the window closed.

You mentioned door panels on 7s being easy... Ive got a 940. Ive pulled panels before, though not on one of these... anything to look out for on a 940 panel?

Also, is it likely that I will need to replace the regulator? Or would there likely be an obstruction or something else that I will need to move?
If its a replacement issue, I may as well get a new one before popping the panel off.

thanks

Door panels are pretty much the same...should be 2 white plastic clips on the very bottom edge that need to be removed, they just pop out. The regulator is held in with pop rivets, they have to be drilled out and the new regulator will have to be pop riveted back in. You might be able to use some small bolts instead.
