940 chime won't stop

our '94 940 with almost 430k has a non-stop chime. It's the chime for the key in ignition reminder. Chime always on, with key in ignition but doors closed, and intermittent at times. For example, will subside under acceleration. started in this below zero winter weather.

It may be the ignition switch is worn out. But the easy fix would be to just disconnect the chimer under the dr. side dash-just follow the noise and unplug...
