Default 940 needs motor mounts

Was told by a trusted Volvo service shop that both my engine mounts are bad. I would like to try this repair myself, have worked on other cars for many years. What is involved and is there a decent repair manual that shows the repair procedure.

easy. just undo the mounts, lift the engine enough to clear them, pull them out, lower the car.

You don't need a book on this one. Your local auto parts store will have prices comparable to mail order stores.
You will need a small floor jack to lift the engine sufficiently. Some ramps wouldn't hurt either.
You may want to hit the local car wash to power off the crud so you can see what you're doing.
That's a DIY car wash.
May as well get a trans mount too. Only the minimum of tools are involved.
The latest Haynes covers through 1988 and still works for your car except for the ignition system.
