940 Wagon - 200k+ miles
Hello--
My wife and I are looking for an inexpensive third car, as my pickup truck isn't really ideal for day-to-day family commuting. There is a '94 940 wagon listed locally, with 213k miles and in "nice" condition. They're asking $2100. I've always been a Japanese car/truck kinda guy, and even with some of those bulletproof engines I'd hesitate buying something with over 200k miles. Are there reasons to avoid Volvos after this many miles? Anything in particular I should ask about with before considering this vehicle, or a similar Volvo with a lot of miles?
Thanks!

Make sure maintance has been kept up.
I work on one that has 800,000 miles on it.
You can easily get another 100,000 if it has been kept up pretty good.
That is a pretty good price as well.

Not kidding.
1990 or 1991 740 wagon.
Usually it is like maintance items. ETC
But we just had to do a headgasket on it.
Volvo is keeping track of the milage on the car.

I recently bought an 89 740 wagon with 190k. It's in cherry shape because it has had all the scheduled maintenance plus oil changes every 3k.
I have had to put a few bucks into it--clutch plus A/C--but it is the best car I've ever owned. It drives like new.
The secret is to find a Volvo that has been loved.
