i have an 87 740 gle and recently I've started having a blinker problem. when i turn the blinkers on nothing happens not dash light and the lights on the front or back of the car dont turn on. When i turn the hazards on then the dash lights turn on and the outside lights blink. i was thinking relay but wouldnt the hazards not work either if it was the relay? im thinking its a bad stalk but i wanna see what you guys say before i go spending a lot more money. oh and also they went out as the same time as the power windows....might have something to do with that? i replaced the relay for the power windows and they work fine....i could try and replace the hazard relay but i not sure if that would fix it.

 

hmm. looking at the wiring diagram for that blinker + hazard light thing.... its complicated.

fuse 9 looks like it provides power for the turn signals but not the hazard blinker. the hazard blinker is on fuse 2 ? whats whack is, it looks like the same flasher relay/timer is used for both, as the ground path.

I know this isn't much help. the wiring diagram is pretty confusing and I don't think I could explain enough of it verbally that it would be useful for troubleshooting, if it was mine, I'd be in there with a volt meter and the diagram....
