RE: bought a 1987 740turbo
Congrats, I just got an 89 Turbo as well. Buncha Noobs we be
You say your flooding the engine? Does it seem like it runs rich constantly when its on (Smell of gasoline when running?) You may want to see if your injectors are leaking. When I checked mine, I took 4 soda bottles, attached them to the injectors and cranked the car, check the spray, if it comes out as a stream rather than a mist or drips after it sprays then you need to look at the injectors further. Could be as simple as cleaning them or maybe even a replacement. Hope this gets you on the right path.

sorry for taking so long to reply, college is ridiculous. I dont think its the injectors because they were replaced right before i got it. also i have a new fuel pressure regulator on it, new spark plugs as well. I had an idea about a engine temperature sensor, so ill try that. Ill get some picks up eventually as well. NOOB POWER!!!!!!!!!!!

Consider a new air filter. Did wonders for my 1987 740 turbo. For future reference, visit www.stepbystepvolvo.com, in the event that car ever dies on you.
