Brakes light working weird

Hi Ya'll. New to the forum.
I have a 1986 240DL Sedan < LOVE IT

My driver side brake light is insane..

1. When the Headlights are OFF.. the brake light comes on
2. When the Headlights are ON .. the brake light DOESN'T come on

Any clue? Any Idea?

Thanks!

Jim

When in doubt, check your grounds. I have some weird things going on with my reverse lights sometimes working, sometimes not. I guarantee I'll find a loose ground.

OR check your fuses. Even if they are intact, check to see if they are corroded. That was the problem with my reverse lights. The fuse wasn't blown, but the contact between it and the fuse panel was corroded. I rotated it back and forth, heard and saw some sparkage, and VOILA! Reverse lights. I ordered a fuse kit from IPD along with a bunch of other little things. I'm going to replace all of the fuses and clean the fuse panel when I get them.
