A/C performance in 100F weather

Th temperatures in my area recently spiked to about 100F. Last month I refilled my fan clutch and replaced all the belts as well. My A/C has been converted to R134. Mechanically, everything is working.

I was wondering what type of A/C performance I should be expecting. On my meat thermometer in the center vent, its registering around 65F when sitting for a while, and goes down to 60F when cruising at low speed. I would guess it would go down even further on the highway. This is all while on recirculate and blower on 3.

It would be nice to be cooler, but as it is, I'm not totally dissatisfied with the performance. I'm just really curious what others out there see in hot weather.

When the weather is in the mid-high 70's, I'm seeing a solid 50F on the gauge.

R134 is not as efficient as r12... I have a similar problem in my black '92 940GL --I never converted it, I just filled it with Freeze12 three years ago and it's OK but when the temps pushes 90+, it gets toasty; not so optimum but I don't wanna do a whole conversion just for a little improvement.

I converted our 89 740 years ago and since have replaced all hoses and condenser. I drain and replace receiver/dryer and orifice valve every 3 years. The system blows 45-50*F at the center vent as it did today when it was 95* out. Put a set of gauges on the system and based on the readings fill as required.
