Default 92 volvo 240 b230f timing belt broken

I would like to thank everyone in advance,

I have a 92 240 B230F redblock with a 5spd trns with a/c that I have snapped the timing belt on while at idle and in neutral. I did crank it once. I read that the B230F is a non-interference engine and no damage has occurred. Is this true?
More Q’s. How do I bring everything to TDC if one of the sprockets are out of sync? I do have a Bentley manual but the more tips the better. Also, after syncing everything and bringing camshaft sprocket to TDC, is there a way to keep the engine from turning over with a 5spd transmission, without buying a special tool, while removing the crankshaft pulley? (e.g. placing a screwdriver in the teeth of the fly wheel.) And, is there a special crankshaft pulley for b230f’s that have a/c?

My 87 240 with the B230 (red block), also 5 speed manual, stripped it's timing belt two weeks ago, and I replaced it this last weekend. You can find my threads from the last two weeks, my questions were the same as yours.

Your engine is non-interference. It wouldn't matter if you were topping it out down the freeway, it's all good.

Since everything is now out of sync, just turn the crankshaft pulley until the #1 cylinder is up. Once the pulley is off, there are machined marks on the gear (or the outside gear cover plate for it) that you will need to line up with the machined mark on the inside of the back section of the timing belt cover (or engine block if there's no cover) to be accurate. All three pulleys have marks (and if you get a Volvo belt, there will be redundant marks on it as well) that need to be lined up with marks in the cover (or block). It's the simplest timing belt ever devised.

As for stopping the crankshaft from turning, without a tool, which I don't have either, remove the starter and throw in your best flathead screwdriver.

I kissed the A/C goodbye a long time ago, so that I don't know.

There are quite a few items that need to be pulled of to change the belt, but like everything else on these cars, it's really a snap.

I don't recommend this, however when something has to be done without the proper tools, necessity becomes the inventor. To remove harmonic balancer I have used a breaker bar and the "hit the key tool". Spooky yes, but does work when it's all you got with no help on the way. Just be very careful.

I used a prybar and my breaker bar...

insert the tip of the breaker bar into the cut slots of the balancer and turn the pulley until you can wedge the prybar and the breaker bar together, and use the leverage to break the bolt loose... tightened it the same way...

Default buying timing belt kit

looking on fcp for t-belt kit and only can find "high performance" t-belt kit.
question: can i use a high performance t-belt meant for the "track" on a an everyday driver? Or will it be over kill? is there a difference?

Remove the crank sensor and place a strong bolt through it to stop the crank?

Thanks everyone,

more silly beginner questions so that I get this right,

I have read that inorder to bring #1 cylinder to Top Dead Center, I have to first place the new belt on in order to move the cam shaft to bring Cly#1 to TDC? is this correct?
I've also read (after placing timing belt on) that i can remove the #1 spark plug (closest to the front of the car right?) and insert a straw into it and move the crank until I see the straw go up to its peak, then slowly back it up until the straw is at its full peak. This makes sense except what about the crank and intermidiate sprocket points wont they be off too?
