Dash warning lights all lit after fixing odometer
My warning lights all stay on dimly lit after starting the car. Recently replaced the gear on the odometer.
Could I have not connected some wiring harness correctly on the back of the panel to cause this? What could some troubleshooting be? Thanks |
Sounds like you need to re-examine your connections...the first time I pulled mine I labeled the individual wires. The cluster plugs are pretty tough to get wrong, but, for instance, the tach lead hooked up to the wrong lead would provide constant current. Do the lights come on when the key is in position I and or only when the key is in position II?

be VERY careful not to hook your tach wire to the wrong plug, i fried my old 240's speedometer by doing that.

The lights are bright in the I position and II they are on when the car is started but very dim and kinda flicker a bit.
Hmmm I dont have a tach, I have a clock. So I have 2 clusters and the 1 that plugs into the actual odometer. Not sure if im missing a plug or not. I will try again this evening when I get home.

Ok, tried to reconnect everything yesterday. Still having the same problem. There is a connector on the lower left drivers side thats not connected, that I believe is for the tach? But I dont have a tach and the red and white wire is not hooked up.
Any suggestions or diagrams to where everything goes? 4 connections are in: The round and half moon connectors, the wires into the odometer are in and the shift connector wires are connected. Anything missing? |
In this video, he has 2 red/white wires. I have 1. Hmmm maybe its down in the dash. So confused

Battery went dead over the weekend. Put in a new battery and started right up. Lights are still on, just not as bright. Could it be the alternator?
Gonna try to remove the positive cable with the car running and see what happens. Any thoughts? |
Car is at the shop. Its the alternator. $348. damn.
