Engine check light and exterior lighting problems
 

Hi i recently replaced the cat on my 92 240 wagon. before doing this the green and orange lambda light on the dash came on, i assumed this do be something to do with the cat being blown at the time. Now i have replaced it but the dash bulb is still on. My dad who had the car before me said when he had something like this happen to it the ecu needed reset. if so is this a dealer job or can i do it and how? Also a week or so ago some stupid "£$^^$%& kids kicked the passenger side rear lights breaking them. I havent had the chance to change the cluster yet but now if i put it into reverse the fuse for the indicators blows. I took the reverse bulb out of the broken cluster and it doesnt happen so often. If a new cluster doesnt fix this any other suggestions? cheers

I would say you need to clear the codes in the system follow link

For the lights the new one should fix the problem.

Cleared the codes today and this did the trick Cheers guys.

Awaiting delivery of a light cluster to fix the other fault. Also did an oil/filter change on it today after the one on it punctured. I think this may have been caused by rubbin off an engine mount or something. But hey its fixed WOOP!!

Check the engine mounts. They might be collapsed. If the oil pan is hitting the rubber on the Crossmember they are bad.

I just replaced the light cluster with a brand new one today however the fuse still blows when it is put into reverse [:@]

Then you will need to trace the wires back to the shifter assembly.

hey i fiddled with the wiring in the spare wheel well and that seems to have cured the problem. Some of the wires look bad possibly due to the electrics for a towbar being fitted an spliced in. The oil pan isnt hitting the cross member but i think the engine mounts are on their last legs. How difficult is it to replace these? cheers

They are fairly easy to do. Remove the nuts and jack up the engine and remove the mounts and replace.
