Engine mounts don't line up after oil pan work
 

So I got the oil pan fiasco finished, finally, never doing that again.

I had the engine up on an engine support beam, lowering it now and the mounts don't line up. I took the bottom bolt off the mount itself and raised it with the mount still attached to the engine block. now I'm stuck. Driver side almost lines up, passenger side is a couple inches off. Tried muscling it back but can't seem to get it there.

Was thinking about taking the bottom bracket of the mount off and trying to center it that way.

Ideas?

Took the bottom brackets off, attached them to the mount itself and with a bunch of wood and a well placed scissor jack, tada!

I got to do my motor mounts soon...and kind of dreading it.

You supported the engine from the oil pan?

Engine beam? Like pull up bar resting on fenders...and using rope/chain hooked to the thermostat housing?

that is what I've read people are doing and removing the motor mount brackets, each side.

Do you have a picture of the ordeal?

I should have taken pics but didn't, would have been a nice redneck looking contraption for sure.

The mounts aren't that bad to replace, loosen them up, put a block of would under the oil pan and jack it up.

I had to use the engine support bar because I was replacing the oil pan gasket itself. Just a big metal beam, two turn bolts with chains. Goes across onto the fender wells and I hooked it up to the engine mounts themselves since the engine was supported a few days. Worked great, just remember to lubricate the snot out of the turn bolts, otherwise they're a pain to turn with the weight on it. Got mine at Harbor Freight (1000 Lb. Capacity Engine Support Bar), only $60 but came in handy.
